FAQ

How do I qualify for the scholarship?
Applicants must be US citizens and diagnosed with Hereditary Angioedema. The applicant must also be enrolling or already enrolled in an undergraduate institution. Applicants from last year's program are welcome to re-apply.
What is the award amount for the HAEA Scholarship Program?
Scholarships will awarded based on financial need and academic effort. Scholarship award amounts for the 2015 school year may be up to $2,500 per year, depending on the availability of funds and the number of applicants.
What effect will outside scholarships have on my financial aid package?
If you have earned any outside scholarship funds, you should make the financial aid office at your institution aware so the information can be used in calculating your award package.
What are my chances of receiving a scholarship?
Our intent is to meet the needs of all HAE patients. Due to limited funding, the number of applicants who will ultimately be awarded scholarships will vary each year.
What is the selection process?
Although this Scholarship program is provided by the HAEA, the Association has no involvement in the scholarship selection process. The selection process is conducted by an independent committee that has no affiliation with the US HAEA. Scholarship recipients are evaluated using an objective scoring system which assesses a combination of the applicant's financial need and academic effort.
